For many of us, crawling into our nice cozy bed is one of the best parts of the day. That feeling of snuggling under the covers and finally relaxing after a stressful day is something we not only want to do, but our bodies require that restorative time. Did you know that while you sleep, your body works extra hard to heal, restore and repair your skin in order to keep you looking and feeling beautiful? Throughout the day, our skin gets damaged by the sun’s UV rays and just general wear from dirt and other pollutants found in the air. While we sleep, our cells kick into high gear to repair that damage each and every night. Pretty amazing, huh? So even though your cells work extra hard, we need to do what we can during our nighttime beauty routine to makes sure they can repair as much as possible.
If you’re like me, getting ready for bed is often the last thing I feel like doing. At the end of the day I’m exhausted and it can be a pain to have to take my makeup off and moisturize my face. Seriously though, don’t skip either of these things! Your skin desperately needs time to build back without the layers of makeup and dirt that builds up over the course of a day.
While simply washing your face and throwing a little lotion on your skin is a great starting point for the proper nighttime beauty routine, we have some in-depth advice to give you to make sure you wake up with glowing skin each and every morning!
Cleanse Your Face
This is the first and most important step. It’s important to use a good makeup remover to avoid scrubbing your face too hard, which can cause redness and dry skin. We love this Bioderma Sensibio H2O Water. It’s super light-weight and feels like water on your skin but it’s so much more effective. If you want a 100% natural product we’d recommend Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
to remove your eye makeup and foundation. Make sure it’s all scrubbed off, paying special attention to your jaw and hair line which are areas we often miss.
Once you’ve removed your makeup, you can move on to the cleansing part. Be sure to choose a cleanser that is designed for your skin type, whether it’s oily, dry, or normal. This DHC Deep Cleansing Oil feels like a total dream to use on your skin and works well on oily skin even though it’s oil-based!
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
Seriously, we can’t stress enough how important it is to give your skin a bucket of moisture to soak in overnight while you sleep. You want to find a moisturizing night cream that will restore the essential vitamins and nutrients to your skin that get stripped away throughout the hours that you’re awake. You may need to try a couple before you decide on one that you really like but one our favorites here at All Salon Prices is Amara Organics Vitamin C Cream for Face with Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter & Jojoba Oil
. Seriously ladies, I am not kidding, if a face cream were to feel like a blanket of health for your skin, this is the cream. You can practically feel the goodness flowing into your pores.
Take Care Of Those Lips!
We are often so focused on our skin that we forget our lips have to repair overnight too. After all, they’ve been put through all sorts of foods and dealt with exposure to different temperatures all day long. Apply an alcohol-free hydrating lip balm to those pretty lips right before you sleep to make sure you lock in moisture all night long.
Really, having a nighttime skin care routine doesn’t have to be complicated, difficult, or expensive. It’s just a matter of finding the right products that work for your schedule, your skin type, and make you feel beautiful!
