What Does Contouring Do For You?
You’re going to want to apply where the natural shadows on your face are found. Those natural shadows are found on the temples of your forehead, on parallel lines going down the sides of your nose, your jawline and directly below the cheekbones.
What Does Highlighting Do For You?
These are going to be the areas on your face that are hit with the most natural lighting. These areas are going to include directly above the contouring that was done to the cheekbones, the inner part of your forehead, cupids bow and in the middle of the chin. The highlighting will also help the contouring you applied stick out.
Cream Contour vs. Powder Contour
When picking your contour kit you should keep your skin type in the back of you mind. If you tend to have oily skin then a cream contour kit will most likely just add on to your problem. With dry skin adding the powder contour on top of that will just add to your flakiness. So before you jump on buying a certain contour kit weigh out your pros and cons of the two kits to see what would be the best fit for your skin.
Step 1: Find the Contour Kit
Now most contour kits come in different shades, you will have to try and find the best one that will soot your skin tone.  When looking for the perfect contour kit you are going to want to find a palette that the highlighter is about two shades lighter than your natural skin tone and for the contour you are going to want shades that are about two to three shades darker than your natural color. Do not panic, the darkness is what is going to help make your cheekbones pop and it will be blended in so the shade is not as dark once you are done.

You are going to want to take the highlight from he forehead and move down the middle of the nose, down to the cupids bow and onto the middle of your chin.

When applying the contour you want to go from the corner of where your ear and hairline meet and angle down to the corner of your mouth.

Apply the contour in that downward angle, do not go too far down or your cheekbones won’t get the pop you want them to get.
