A lot of women would like to look like Angelina Jolie or at least have her kind of makeup. Exuding a confident style of glamour is au naturel to Jolie with her languorously expressive eyes and now famous pouty lips. You may not have exactly the same set of facial features, but with the right kind of makeup you can have Angelina Jolie’s look.
The first thing to take note of is the “toned down” makeup that Angie wears, accentuating nothing except her eyes and only with eyeliner. If you’re going to go as bare as that, however, you would have to have a flawless complexion that doesn’t scream concealer or foundation. Even without makeup, Jolie’s look is naturally radiant, a result of maintaining good skin care.
Clean Face, Groomed Eyebrows and Lightweight Foundation
Start with a clean face. Apply your regular moisturizer and let your skin absorb it for around 15 to 20 minutes. Apply the most lightweight and sheerest foundation you can lay your hands on and apply this evenly on your face. Ensure that your foundation has an SPF of 30 and more if you’re bound to stay outdoors for the day. Note that Angie’s foundation always makes her face look fresh and dewy, not pasty or theatrical.
If you do need concealer for some blemishes, apply this only after your foundation; apply it only to those areas which need it. Blend foundation and concealer as well to “thin” down both applications. Groom and shape brows; fill in nude spots in your browns with feathery strokes of brown or black-brown eyebrow shadow instead of making them look like they were lined with permanent markers.
Minimalist Makeup Style
Before getting started on the pièce de résistance of Angie’s made-up look of eyes and lips, all you wannabes should be aware that the future Mrs. Brad Pitt hardly has blush on her cheeks, maintaining her minimalist style of makeup. Except for a few occasions and her most recent film, ”Maleficent,” where her cheekbones were emphasized with prosthetics and blush, Angie has good bone structure that she really doesn’t need blush for her cheekbones to be visible.
You can, however, have those same cheekbones by applying a nude bronzer below your cheekbones and on temples, along the hairline, and under your chin with an angled brush. Add more color for evening but do this slowly and blending downward to prevent harsh lines. Brush some light pink blush on your cheeks, in the middle of the forehead, and the length of your nose bridge sparingly to give your face a natural-looking flush.
The Eyes Have It
To get that Angelina Jolie look, the primary emphasis will have to be the eyes. Angie is renowned for her cat’s eye makeup. Neck to neck with her famous pouty lips, are her made-up eyes which look smoldering, mysterious, and seductive. You, too, can sport those eyes with chocolate brown or charcoal gray eyeshadow on the upper eyelid which has to be blended thoroughly so as not to make them the central of attraction; remember, you still have Angie’s famous full lips to do.
Choose a shade that comes close to your actual skin tone and avoid too much shimmer or glitter. Apply it in a sweeping motion from lashes to brow and then apply a darker shade on your eyelid’s crease with a tapered brush; for deep set eyes, like Angie’s, pull out the color from the crease and slightly up so it “opens” up your eyes. Use a cake eyeliner, gel or pencil to line your lashes’ inner rims instead of lining above and below your lashes and repeat this process at your lash line’s top. Finish up either with mascara or false eyelashes.
Luscious, Kissable, Full Lips
Before Angie became a hit, thin lips were de rigueur. But when full-lipped Angie bagged Brad Pitt, women started going to cosmetic surgeons to give them luscious, kissable, and full lips. Notice that Angie doesn’t regularly put on bold or bright lipsticks except probably for the premier nights of “Salt” and “Maleficent” when she wore a fire engine shade of red. Otherwise, she almost always wears nude shades or natural-looking lip gloss and you should do the same.
If you have thin lips and want Angie’s pout, use a darker shade to line the outer portions of your upper and lower lips and just fill both in with a pale or neutral color like caramel or beige; apply gloss with some shimmer to give the illusion of full lips. That’s it, you’re done, and on a final note, always keep in mind that learning how to look like Angelina Jolie isn’t difficult if you keep your makeup simple and focus on your eyes and lips.
