If you’re like me, you love to spend a luxurious day at the spa. Indulging in spa treatments like massages, facials, and aromatherapy treatments is something I consider to be a delicious treat. I’d go every single weekend if I could, sipping on mimosas and listening to that soft, peaceful music as I breathe in the scents of lemongrass and lavender. Unfortunately, my wallet doesn’t allow for such indulgence on a regular basis so I’ve had to figure out ways to get creative.
The good news is that there’s an endless selection of ideas for DIY spa treatments you can easily do at home! It’s the perfect excuse to get a few of your girlfriends together, pop open a bottle of champagne and chat the night away while indulging in some of your favorite spa treatments from the comfort of your own home.
Homemade Spa Treatments
There’s so many homemade spa treatments out there that I had a hard time choosing which ones to share with you all! Here’s two of our favorites that will help you achieve smooth, soft, hydrated skin that shines.
Body Exfoliator DIY
Whether you live in a hot or cold climate, the weather can take its toll on your skin. It’s important to exfoliate your skin on a regular basis to remove dead skin cells and promote healthy, nourished skin.
Lavender Vanilla Sugar Scrub
The sweet scents of lavender and vanilla will tickle your senses and calm your mind as you exfoliate your skin. You’ll be amazed how soft your skin feels after using this scrub and it only costs a small fraction of those fancy scrubs you buy at the store.
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1 cup Grapeseed Oil
2 tablespoons dried lavender
12 drops lavender essential oil
Mix all of the ingredients together and store in a sealed glass container until you’re ready to use. Wash your face with your favorite gentle cleanser and pat dry. Apply the scrub to your face, massaging in circular motions. Be careful not to push too hard as you don’t want to irritate your skin. Massage for 1 minute and rinse with warm water. Pat dry and apply your favorite mildly scented moisturizer.
DIY Overnight Face Mask
If the mimosas have been flowing and it looks like a few of your girlfriends are gonna crash on your couch, this face mask is the perfect plan! You’ll all wake up fresh-faced from this DIY overnight face mask. Overnight is one of the best times to nourish your skin with an extra boost of nutrients because it’s not being contaminated with makeup or other chemicals that often cause dry skin and clogged pores.
Honey Sleep Mask
This mask will leave your face feeling soft and hydrated with a healthy shine in the morning!
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon organic raw honey
1 tablespoon milk
Mix ingredients together, making sure that they’re thoroughly combined. Cleanse your face and pat dry. When you’re ready for bed, apply a thin layer of the milk and honey mixture to your face. Be careful that it’s thoroughly rubbed into your skin to avoid any drips. Allow to dry and rest on your face overnight. Wash with warm water in the morning and moisturize as you normally do.
Hair Spa At Home
The key to a hair spa at home is not only using products that smell amazing and leave your hair feeling soft, but that also work to make your hair healthier and stronger. One of my favorite all-natural products is coconut oil. It leaves your hair smelling amazing, feeling soft, and it promotes a healthy hair follicle which helps to fight breakage and dryness.
Step 1: Apply 2-3 tablespoons of organic coconut oil to your hair. Focus on massaging it into your scalp and the roots of your hair. This blasts your scalp with moisture, helping you to avoid dandruff and other pesky annoyances. Allow the oil to sit on your hair for 30 minutes. In the meantime, pour yourself another mimosa!
Step 2: Saturate a towel with warm water and wrap your hair in the towel. Allow your hair to “steam” for 10 minutes before showering. Shampoo and condition as usual.
Step 3: In a bowl, mix 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon coconut oil and ½ a ripe banana together. Apply this hair mask to your entire head, massaging it into your scalp and thoroughly saturating the ends of your hair. Let the mask sit on your hair for 20 minutes and then shampoo and condition again. Dry and style your hair as you normally would.
You’ll be amazed by how soft and healthy your hair looks after just doing this one time. I recommend doing this routine 1-2 times a month to give your hair an extra boost, especially during winter months when your hair is prone to dryness.
While these steps might not be quite the same as spending a day relaxing at the spa, you can still get amazing benefits from these home remedy treatments! I hope you and your friends enjoy the results and the extra money you have left in your wallets!
