If you’re anything like me, you’ve suddenly realized that Halloween is just a few days away and you have yet to decide what kind of creative nail art will take your Halloween costume to the next level. If you don’t have time to go to the nail salon, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Here are five easy Halloween nail designs you can do at home, to throw some extra spook in your holiday.
Spooky Eyeball Nails
Dark shades are trendy for fall, so if you’re not wanting to go crazy with flashy colors, this is an excellent way to add a cute and subtle nail design to your halloween costume.
This nail art design from Totally The Bomb will work best if you have a thick black nail polish to contrast with the white polish for the eyes. Allow the black to dry completely before adding the eyes so you avoid any color mixing.
Add a nice, glossy topcoat to finish it off and voila! Shiny, cute nails in the spirit of halloween!
Bloody Fingerprint Nails
If you’re looking for a little extra blood and gore, this nail art is just the thing!
To accomplish this design from The Daily Nail, just pull the red and white colors you probably already have in your nail polish tool box and apply 1-2 coats of white lacquer to your nails. For best results, allow the white to dry before applying the red. Next, dip a fingertip into red nail polish, dab on a paper towel, and apply to your white nails to get the fingerprint design.
The key to success with this nail art is to make sure you avoid any blotting or clumping so you get nice light, clear fingerprints. The bloodier the better!
Bonus tip: If you’re going for a truly authentic look, you may want to use matte nail polish and skip the shiny clear top-coat for a less shiny design.
There you have it! Perfect “spooktacular” halloween nails that are sure to get a double-take from any fellow party-goers.
Candy Corn Nails
These nail colors are appropriate for the entire fall season, not just Halloween!
For this design found on More, it will be easiest to get clean, straight lines with a French Tip Guide.
But if you you’re short on time, masking or painter’s tape will work just fine!
Start by painting a yellow base coat. When that is dry, paint the top of your nail white. Allow a few minutes for that to dry, and then apply tape over the yellow and white so you can add the orange bar. After painting the orange section, carefully peel the tape away and allow to fully dry. You might want to use a matte finish for the top coat, just to give it that extra candy corn look, but that’s totally up to you!
Frankenstein Nails
DIY this design to throw a blast of electricity into your Halloween plans! These creepy nails from One Nail to Rule Them All make a loud statement that’s sure to get you noticed no matter what your Halloween plans are.
Select whatever shade of lime green polish you like and paint a base coat. Using a toothpick or very fine paintbrush if you have one handy, paint the black lines, making them as jagged or straight as you prefer. This design allows a lot of room for you to be creative and add as much or little to the nail as you like!
Pumpkin Nails
Pumpkin nails are yet another design that is appropriate for the entire fall season! This one might be a little more challenging than the rest, but look how cute they are! This design from One Nail to Rule Them All is totally worth the few extra minutes to make them look perfectly pumpkinlicious.
Use your creative genius to decide on whatever color base coat you like. Using a small brush, paint a half-circle on the top of your nail. From there, add your pumpkin lines and stem, being as detailed as you want! You could make the pumpkins different sizes, or even different shades of orange if you have a few different colors. Enjoy your pumpkin nail art all season long!
