5 Tips For Maintaining Healthy Hair For Men

July 31, 2014 / by ASP Edit@r / Leave a Comment

You may think that just washing your hair every day and using shampoo will keep your hair clean and healthy. WRONG! How you wash your hair and the products you use can go a long way toward maintaining smooth, shiny hair. Follow these simple helpful tips to maintain healthy hair.

Check Your Scalp

Maintaining healthy hair starts where it begins…the scalp! The scalp is unique from skin on other parts of your body an must be cared for properly to prevent damage. An unhealthy scalp can be itchy and flaky, or oily and scaly.

Choose the Right Products

Wash your hair on a daily basis and pick a shampoo and conditioner that is best for your hair type – dry, oily, flaky, etc. Address your problem with proper products.

Wash & Rinse with Cool Water

We enjoy a hot shower as much as the next guy, but this strips essential oils and moisture from the scalp and hair. Wash and rinse your hair with cooler water. It may not feel as good, but your skin and hair will thank you for it.

Hydrate and Eat Well

You are what you eat and that goes for your hair too! The nutrients you put into your body affect your hair follicles and scalp. A well-balanced diet that is rich in protein and iron, along with proper hydration, will help maintain a healthy head of hair.

Ditch the Hat

A hat that is too tight can impede the blood circulation to the scalp, and wearing one too often (especially a dirty ball cap) can cause breakage, and trap dirt and oils in your pores.
