Unwanted hair has been the bane of many women’s existences. Many techniques have been employed for centuries to rid us of unwanted hair, however, these seem to only be effective for a few weeks at most.
Whether you have tried waxing, threading, plucking and epilators, the results are great, however, short-lived. There are many new inventions popping up every now and then, however, a few of these have been tried and tested and seem to fit the criteria for longer lasting results. Whether you decide to stick with temporary hair removal solutions or try permanent solutions, it is imperative that you consult a trained professional with a good reputation.
Laser Hair Removal Treatment
This method hit the world by storm. Initially, it was not made clear that a few treatments would be necessary for the hair removal to be permanent and this sent customers into a frenzy, believing that the procedure was not effective. The reason a few treatments may be needed involves a lot of factors, for instance, the colour of the hair, whether you have recently waxed or plucked, etc.
The process itself involves you lathering the chosen area with a special gel that assists the laser to penetrate right down to ensure that the follicle is destroyed. This is easier to do with darker hair, thus darker hair has a better success ratio.
The actual treatment does have a little bit of a sting and the day after treatment your skin will feel a little bit sensitive as if you have spent a day in the sun. These treatments are usually done 6-8 weeks apart, to ensure that the hair follicles have had enough time to grow and thus be targeted.
These treatments are fairly costly, however, comparing that to the cost of a lifetime of waxing or threading costs and discomfort, this seems to be a worthy investment.
Electrolysis
This method does not destroy many follicles at a time as with laser, rather it focuses on individual hairs. A probe enters the follicle and the hair is removed. The hair growth centre is destroyed by either a chemical solution or heat, and is imperative that it is done by a professional.
The treatments vary from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area that needs attention. It is also important to go back for return visits to ensure that the hair growth centre is destroyed permanently. Once this process has been finalised though, the hair will never grow back. This is especially good news for those who struggle with unwanted facial hair, or hair that cause problems for instance ingrown hair along the bikini line.
This treatment is not painful at all and those that have undergone the treatment have noted that there is only a slight tingling sensation. This sensation is during the treatment only, and immediately after the treatment it tends to disappear. These treatments, like laser, are also deemed as costly due to the repeat visits.
