What is the Sephora Play! Beauty Box?

Sephora Play! Beauty Box is a monthly subscription for makeup, skincare, haircare, and other beauty products. Like other beauty boxes such as Ipsy and Birchbox, the Play! by Sephora box costs $10 a month and contains items curated just for you. 

Sephora debuted this box around September of 201. It’s just now starting to become as popular as the other major beauty box subscriptions. This may be due to the fact that in the beginning. There was a waitlist so the hype was real and every beauty and fashion blogger was dying to get their box.

When you place your order for your subscription, you are prompted to fill out a profile so that experts put together a box with makeup and products that you’ll love. They ask you questions like what is your skin type and what products would you prefer to be sent that way there’s a large chance you’ll enjoy the products that are sent. So, you keep your subscription.

There are a lot of different Sephora store locations, but at this point, you can only sign up for Sephora Play online and not in stores, although this may change as time goes by.

Sephora Play! Subscription

When you subscribe, you will receive your box the following month. For example, If you order between November 1st and 30th, you will receive your first box in December. The box arrives right around the 20th of each month, give or take three to five days. The same policy applies to cancellations.  If you’d like to unsubscribe for the month of December, you need to submit your cancellation between November 1st to November 30th.

Subscriptions for Play By Sephora were filled up for a while and there was a waitlist for some time. You now can sign up directly on their website and receive your box the very next month.

As of now, you can’t purchase the Sephora Play box as a gift but we have some ideas. What you could do is purchase a subscription for a month or however long you want the recipient to receive boxes, and just put in the mailing address of your recipient instead of yourself upon checkout. You could also have the boxes shipped to your house. Then, ship the boxes to the recipient or give them as a gift in person. The downside to this method is that the person wouldn’t be able to fill out the beauty profile themselves. 

Because of this, the best method seems to be to buy the gift recipient a Sephora gift card so they can use it toward a play! subscription.

How Does Shipping Work For The Play! By Sephora Beauty Box Subscription?

The great thing about the Sephora Play box is there are no additional fees for shipping or even canceling your subscription. The cost of shipping and handling has already been included in your monthly fee of $10 each month. This is likely because your box arrives at the same time each month, so you already know when to expect it. 

Currently, Play! boxes are only available to ship and be sold in the 50 US states. But, Sephora is planning on expanding this project soon to other countries as well.

When your box ships you will get an email with all the tracking information, that way you can watch your package’s journey right to your doorstep. Part of the excitement is that you know when to expect your box each month. So, it’s a time to look forward to.

Paying For Your Sephora Play! Beauty Box

Because you can only sign up for Sephora Play online, you have to use an online payment method to pay for your subscription. Debit cards, credit cards, and PayPal are all possible ways to pay. Sephora accepts all major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. And each month, it will automatically charge the same payment method, until you would cancel your subscription if you wish to do so. 

Promos and Discounts

At this point, there are no promo codes or discounts associated with the Sephora Play box. Sephora is considering changing this in the future.

You can not use your Beauty Insider points from any of your Sephora accounts to pay for the Playbox, but you will receive 50 points for every month you are subscribed. 

If you live in a state where sales tax is applicable, the tax is added to the $10 monthly fee. But most times, it is usually pennies on the dollar.

You don’t pick the items that go into your Sephora Play box, Sephora curates the items they send you based on the questions you answer for your profile. Most boxes have a theme, like skin care or hair care.

But, Sephora is a high-quality makeup company and $10 for five or six full-size products is a steal! Another pro is that there is no additional fee for shipping or cancellations, and you can cancel at any time.
